Tagusgás headquarters, in Cartaxo, surprises by its innovative design, materials used and contemporary construction techniques. It is an example of success in the integration between environment, design and technology in the first Portuguese office building to be developed according to the criteria of the BREEAM system for new buildings. Architects and engineers jointly designed environmental efficiency measures in order to integrate the building into the surrounding space, reducing energy costs and decreasing the ecological footprint.
The perforated white panels and the large glazed surfaces favour the indoor/outdoor relationship. Inside, the compartmentalisation of areas lends the space modernity; outside, in the façade system, natural lighting and thermal and acoustic insulation are highlighted; from outside to inside and inside to outside, natural ventilation allows high levels of air quality to be achieved. Together, all the options reflect the same mission and paradigm: to leverage natural resources to reduce costs and ensure the sustainability of the project and respect for the environment in the medium and long term.
